Amit is risking Catatonia

Wait, I am not saying it; that's what an interesting article on CIO.com says about Blackberry users. It's titled "What If the Internet Went Down...and Didn't Come Back Up?".

It's a scary thought. I'm reasonably sure that ten years from now, no such thing as a queue will exist. Everything will be online. We may forget what it feels like to shake hands because all business meetings will happen online. Telecommuting will become a way of life and office romance will be dead for good. Nobody will ever be fired. I'm assuming that the boss will just block him/her in the contact list.

Having said all that, being so dependent on the Internet is horrifying. What if this article turns out to be true? The world, as we know it, will cease to exist. Remember Nostradamus' famous prophecy about the annihilation of the world? That won't be caused by flood, heat or aliens, stupid. A smart ass hacker is going to screw the Internet up.

P.S: For the ones who didn't get the link between the title of the post and the article, here it is.

"Imagine, if you will, a world with no Internet." I stopped reading the article after this line, for ambiguous reasons.

Anyway, so the internet stops existing, enh. We go back to the stone age, no biggie. Our ancestors survived, so will we. it'd be unbelievably hard, but what to do? You cant sit back and sulk forever. If there is no internet, no technology, no nothing, all you have to do is start reinventing the wheel and get back on the groove.

Also, a few days back i saw this movie - The Net on star movies and i was amazed by the sheer antiquity of the film! I mean Sandra Bullock runs around carrying 'critical' data in a floppy disk! The disk that erased her identity!!! The disk that has the power to destroy the foundation of the free world! SERIOUSLY! I dont even remember how a floppy disk looks like. Also, the Matrix movies, which are ridiculously cryptic talk about technological catastrophes, concepts that are totally lost on me.

So much dependence on the Internet is definitely a disadvantage, but if it cranks, there'd always be something else which is bigger, better and more worthwhile. No?

Also, if I had read the entire article, would i have known the relation between the title of the blog post and the content of the post?
