CHOCOLATE – A perfect gift for someone you love
CHOCOLATE!! The very name conjures up an exotic mix of blissful feelings like love and happiness. White chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, sweet dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or bitter sweet chocolate, the types are many but the effect they have on your taste buds is one – hhhmmm! Love and romance are the two feelings that most of us associate with the aah-so-irresistible chocolate. No wonder it was believed to have aphrodisiac traits, revitalizing men and making women less repressed.
It’s hardly any wonder that chocolate in no time acquired the status of an ideal gift for a loved one, courtesy its effect on human behavior. Phenylethylamine and serotonin are mood-lifting agents that are naturally present in human brain as well as chocolate. Whenever we are happy or experience emotions like love, lust, and passion, our brain releases these two substances into the nervous system. This leads to rapid mood change, increased blood pressure, and escalated heart rate. This further induces the feelings of happiness – happiness associated with love. Consuming chocolate does the same thereby producing the same ecstatic effects. Besides, it acts as good energy booster thus increasing stamina. Perhaps, it’s because of these factors that chocolate got the status of an aphrodisiac.
Today, however, the benefits of eating chocolate, in particular the dark chocolate, have been acknowledged. Dark chocolate boosts dopamine release and provides flavonoids, which are good for arteries. Furthermore, it is also a powerful antioxidant, which eliminates free radicals.
No wonder there’s a museum devoted entirely to chocolate in Cologne, Germany. And if this is not enough, there is “Eurochocolate,” the Italian chocolate festival marked by numerous events related to the chocolates – celebrations, exhibitions, cooking classes, tasting, expositions, banquets, and Eurochocolate Awards.
What can be better than gifting your special ones with chocolate –“the food for Gods?” Be it any occasion, any mood, the magical effect it brings in your loved ones with its heavenly taste is unique. So if you desire to ensure your loved one’s affection, a gift of chocolate is probably the easiest and sure-shot way to do it.
