How to ruin a perfectly good saturday...
..by watching a really bad movie, late night show and cribbing all along the way. So I saw Welcome this Saturday, and I am embarrassed to admit that this is NOT the first time I've chosen godawful movies to watch (previous catastrophes include RGV's Aag, Aks, Market (!!), Ankahi, and so on). Welcome is one more little feather to my growing list of ridiculous non-movies that one should NEVER watch. And this is something I knowingly ventured into...fully aware of what I should expect from the movie. I'd received first hand reviews from family members, Rajeev Masand (the CNN IBN movie critic guy who never minces words) made it very clear that you should never watch this movie even if you get paid to watch it, I still went ahead and did the unthinkable. Seriously.
So this movie is so horrifying, it is not even remotely funny. Nana Patekar is wasted, Anil Kapoor looks like his own duplicate, Akshay Kumar is irritating, Paresh Rawal is stereotyped, the female characters are blah, and Feroze Khan is AWESOME! okay, no he is not. I was actually hoping to see FK as his showy best, mouthing ridiculous dialogues, but none of that happened, which made me really sad :-( "Abhi main zinda hoon" said after scrunching his nose all the way upto the crevices of his kajal-laden eyes was the highlight of FK's acting. And this came from the man who came out with masterpieces such as Prem Aggan and Janasheen. Prem Aggan is my personal favorite, by the way, just because it is so bad. That would be a whole new post. Some other time.
There is no story, no laughs, no gags, no nothing. I laughed only because I am easily amused and because I felt compelled to laugh! I mean my dad paid for the movie, it was only fair that he should feel that I'm having a good time.
My new year resolution - Do not watch movies for which you have CATEGORICALLY received bad reviews.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Serves you right. Anybody who goes to watch Feroze Khan should be put through torture. Some sensible people like me chose to play some golf, eat out, stay home, do random nothings and chill out.

IA blog gives us a nice platform to discuss about watchable n avoidable movies. I make sure to watch the new releases on Friday itself as i never trust movie reviews. So, whoever wants to play safe can take my opinion on saturday mornings.
