An idea can change your life

Let me begin from the scratch. The droopy faces of people after enjoying six days of Diwali vacation were quite noticeable. Everybody was struggling to get over their holiday mood. Nobody was in a mood to work.

For a few days everything went on as usual. One fine day, 'the content team' was called in for a meeting. We were clearly told that we performed below expectations and we needed to improve soon. In our discussion which was almost completely 'Ullasified' we were asked for some suggestions. Majority of the discussion was about Swati preparing some guidelines on the usage of American English. We planned to discuss that every Saturday. After the discussion was over we were asked to mail at least two suggestions the next day.

That evening after supper I went to the terrace and started thinking seriously. One after another many thoughts crossed my mind. I remembered an instance in my previous firm when we were asked for suggestions. Our PM declared that the best suggestion would receive a reward of Rs.200 from him. I instantly recognized the golden opportunity as I was damn confident that nobody, not even the process manager himself could overshadow my writing skills. I wrote my suggestions and I received, guess what?...NOTHING! Not even a compliment! All the big announcements just vanished in thin air. I was deeply discouraged. Well, I think God didn't want me to stay in such a mess so he blessed me with infoAnalytica. How he did that is a different story altogether.

For a moment, I was forced to think IA wouldn't be any different; in fact, any organization wouldn't be any different. Why? Because I thought that top management would love to impose their decisions rather than listen to employee suggestions. But then I realized that living in the shell won't change anything. I decided to pour my heart out and face the consequences rather than staying dumb.

Next day, our content team mailed suggestions. Amazingly, sir looked impressed! He showered us with compliments. We had a short discussion and we got what most budding writers long for- an American Library membership. All of us were pepped up, especially me.

The aftershocks of the suggestions earthquake still prevail and are not expected to suppress anytime soon.

I like this post. I'm not saying that because the article is appreciative of IA as an organization, but I like the way it is written. Two things -

    1. You have good writing skills. This article shows that. I don't really see why your work should not be good.

    2. Your team has always come up with good suggestions. But as we discussed yesterday, the key is implementation. Did you speak with Ullas about the books/DVDs you guys wanted from AIRC?
